Culturally Responsive Supervision (Virtual)
February 16, 2023
Thursday, February 16, 2023, 1:00pm-4:00pm (PT)
Hosted by The YWCA of Greater Portland Social Justice Program. Supervision is the determining factor of whether or not an employee is ingeniously successful within their positional tenure in an organization. Considering that organizational structure contextually operates within a White Supremacist framework, the institutions of hierarchy and power are its function. Because of this, the supervisor and supervisee relationship are inherently oppressive. For folks of color and folks holding other marginalized sociocultural identities, such a relationship can impact one’s identity within an organization, sense of belonging, safety, achievement, and overall ability to thrive in the workplace.
It is crucial to the functionality of supervision that we begin to dissect antiquated systems of oppression and power that exist within our positional roles, and develop racial equity competencies to learn how to properly support, manage, nourish, and celebrate a truly diverse workforce.
Cost: $0-$30. Registration and more information here
